Our guest speaker will be Cameron D.C. Garcia, a tribal archaeologist, ethnobotanist, community linguist, as well as a citizen of the Chalon Indian Council of Bakersfield.
he is currently using his education and training to focus on the cultural history of California's Central Coast.
The Chalon are one of eight historic Ohlone-Coastanoan divisions whose traditional homelands included permanent and seasonal villages around the present day hills of southern San Benito County.
Cameron will speak about the Chalon tribe, the archaeology and history of the San Benito County region as well as work that the tribe is engaged in today.

We offer a variety of educational programs for visitors of all ages, including guided tours, workshops, and lectures. Our programs are designed to engage and inspire, and to provide a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage of our community.

June 20, 2026: Learn about the Chalone culture at our Summer Potluck at the Dunneville Dancehall.
(Sept and Dec meetings are held at the Wapple Museum 498 Fifth St, Hollister)
The first Saturday of each month 9am-12pm is the Volunteer Workday. We meet at the Village's Cottage Bar. Your enthusiasm and gardening, carpentry and painting skills will help us keep this special place in good repair. Historical Society provides tools, materials & a grilled hot dog lunch.
